A labour of love owned and run by dynamic duo, Emma and Gareth Glynn.
Steering the day-to-day operations is Emma, a skilled alchemist passionate about crafting exceptional spirits.
In 2012, we made the move to Shropshire from Lancashire, enduring daily 120-mile commutes, Emma working in Education and Gareth a chemical engineer, as we settled into our new life. It was during this time that we encountered a gin labelled and sold as "local" – only to discover it wasn't as authentic and truly locally made as described.
This sparked something within us; Why not create a gin and distillery that truly embodies honesty, transparency and the essence of Shropshire? With this idea in
mind, we set out to craft a genuine spirit, honestly made in Shropshire.
The 'Gin Shed'
Thus, in 2018, The Shropshire Distillery was born.
Nestled within our family home, the 'Gin Shed' became our haven of creativity. Accompanied by our daughter, Lily, and our faithful companion, Calla the Hungarian Vizsla, we embarked on our distilling adventure. Our debut gin, Shire Gin, hit the shelves on July 1st, 2018, followed by Spiced Gin in December 2018, and Cherry & Pink Peppercorn Gin in February 2019. In 2020, our Navy Strength Gin joined the lineup.
Eventually, Gareth's passion for motorbikes paved the way for a consulting role, allowing me to fully commit to our distillery venture, a leap I took with pride, cementing my place as one of the few female distillers in the industry.
Our commitment to honesty, transparency, and provenance is unwavering. That's why we're proud to be verified and awarded the#actuallymadein Shropshire, a testament to our dedication to authenticity and local craftsmanship.
Award Winning
In July 2019, our spirits received acclaim, winning two International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) awards. In 2021, all four of our Core Range Gins were honoured with Silver awards, marking our ascent as multi-award winners.
Subsequently, accolades such as Distillery of the Year 2022 at the Prestige Awards and Best Small Business 2023 at The Shropshire Business Awards were added to our achievements.
Our ethos, rooted in honesty, transparency, and dedication to handcrafted excellence, resonates in every bottle we produce. It's an honour to be recognised for our commitment, with 5-star ratings on Google and TripAdvisor affirming the quality of our distillery experiences.
